HOLIDAY ACTIVATIONS

BLOODTIDE holiday activations are continuing to be imagined and practiced across the continent (and beyond?!) There’s at least 450 million ways to celebrate in homage to horseshoe crabs and our more-than-human ancestors of all kinds.

For inspiration, click here to learn about 450 million year timelines, Bloodtide bike parties, and Great Salt Lake Vigils. Or keep scrolling to learn immediate ways to activate!

BOOK CLUB!

Two or more friends is a book club!

It’s my delight to sell you and your book club some discounted copies of BLOODTIDE in bulk and then zoom in for a conversation and some drawing prompts or crabaoke or just as a crab on the wall. DIY it with pals or glad to connect with your local bookstore, library or community group.

BOOK TALK / SUITCASE SHOW!

I welcome you to invite me to come give my holiday proposal suitcase show to your class, congregation, adventure club or science fair. This improvisational alternative to a book talk can be 10 minutes to an hour, on zoom or in the flesh/carapace.

Drawing prompts and optional crabaoke singing- geared toward any age age group or zone of interest.

Pay what you can // $450 dollars an hour / million years

WORKSHOPS

Bring BLOODTIDE to your community! I offer workshops for Nature Drag, Flag Building, Parade & Pageants, and lots more!

Go to my OFFERINGS page to learn all the ways we can work together to activate the holiday.

EXAMPLES OF BLOODTIDE ACTIVATIONS

450 MILLION YEAR TIMELINE

This sculpture project was both a 3D land acknowledgement 450 million year timeline in an effort to grok (and make more visible) the vastness of the horseshoe crab's time on Earth as well as the relative recentness of human existence.

Over 300 Modern Humans (ages 9 weeks to 83 years) transformed recyclables into papermaché organisms, which were on view throughout The Providence Public Library Downtown from 2023 - 2024.

While the project is officially complete, with the bulk of the organisms re-homed, some have taken up permanent residence at PPL, including most notably the whale over the Library's entrance/Lobby and the ostrich on Level 1.

More info about the installation via the Providence Public Library here.
