BLOODTIDE

 THE BOOK

BLOODTIDE is a new/primordial holiday I’m proposing. Everybody is invited to join me in celebrating it, anytime in the next 450 million years. During the pandemic, with the help of the editors at 3rd Thing Press, I wrote and illustrated this proposal, manual and field notes for holiday activation. The book in it’s 2nd edition and 4th(?!) printing with over 2000 copies sold.

A portion of all book sales and paid gigs related to Bloodtide activations go to Black and Indigenous land and healing projects local to where the holiday is activated.

BLOODTIDE is an ongoing project I can activate with people or groups at any time - read below or reach out with your own idea!

PAST HOLIDAY ACTIVATIONS

BLOODTIDE holiday activations are continuing to be be imagined and practiced across the continent (and beyond?!) There’s at least 450 million ways to celebrate in homage to horseshoe crabs and our more-than-human ancestors of all kinds.

450 MILLION YEAR TIMELINE

NATURE DRAG WORKSHOPS

Naturedrag proposes a third+ form – not dragking or queen, but kin. Accessible to anyone with a body; “I” but no longer first-person. The flamboyant failures of our clumsy DIY anthropomorphism arouse pleasure and empathy, potentially lubricating further vulnerability to unsettling anthropocentrism and maybe other hierarchies of power and scale.

FLAG WORKSHOPS

I’ve been working with 5th graders to create flags in celebration of organisms, last year anywhere, this year – local flora and fauna! Look out for them displayed in the window of The Olneyville Public Library in this spring.
